I'm a hs runner with big dreams. My PR in the 5k is 26:19 on a flat course and this year I've decided to get serious about my training. When I ran my PR I averaged around 55 miles per week, but now I've increased it to 70-75. The other day I ran a 2-mile time trial in 14:47 (it was painful, but I closed in a 1:46 last 400 - the extra mileage gave me strength). I'm also doing a lot of hill work and tempo runs. I'm pretty sure that I'm in shape to do it, but I always seem to run a little bit over 26. Any tips/help for breaking that elusive 26 minute barrier?
