Don't you have to, like, get to work and make a living?

Classic example of the brainwashed proletariat.
Life should be spent doing pleasurable things, not working to further enrich the obscenely wealthy.
What is this country "Europe"?

And if everyone spent their time only doing pleasurable things, how do you think that would work out in the long run?

The American version of "making a living" is substantially different than almost everywhere else in the world. In America, you have to pay the mortgage on your house that's too big, pay the car payments on your multiple cars that are too big, not to mention insure them, maintain and repair them, and put gas in them, then you have your smart phones you can't live without, giant TVs to buy, etc, etc, etc. Most Americans work harder to spend every penny they make than they do actually making the money, and since they never have any money saved or invested because they're spending it all to keep up with the Jones, they become obsessed about earning more.

Pretty damn good lives, I'd say.
Its sociable and enjoyable.
And incomes in Europe are rising faster than in the US (with a couple of obvious exceptions). So we must be doing something right.

Americans don’t ‘waste time’ in cafes.
They cannot because American cafes don’t take food stamps.

Americans sit around and do nothing at work and pretend they have long work weeks. How many of you are doing work within the first few minutes you arrive at work? How many are doing work up to the minute you leave? Sorry buddy but the time Americans spend pretending to work could be better spent at a cafe.

Amen, brother.

So i take it you essentially live as if it were before the industrial Revolution? you dont use indoor plumbing (outhouses are great !), nor do you use any electronics, because Innovation to get These things that make life comfortable require work.
seriously dude, at some Level you must recogniye that there is a Balance to be made between work and Play. otherwise we would all still be stuck in the Stone Age. this idea that work is stupid and unimportant, and only pleasurable things are worth doing is neither correct, nor is the same value shared by the vast majority of europeans.
Unless you really believe that doing 0 work would lead to a good life. then go ahead and try it. Move to the mountains somewhere and see how Long you have something to eat as Long as you only do pleasurable things. those cafes you love so much....someone had to build those (work!!) and someone has to work there to serve your coffee as well.
you managed to cram a lot of ignorance into one very short post, which is amazing, even for letsrun Standards.

I get to work at 8AM every morning and immediately sit down and do work while sipping my coffee. I work straight until lunch when I go to the kitchen and get the lunch my wife makes me every day and take my ten minute break to heat it up quickly, then I work through lunch. At 3:30 PM I grab another coffee to sip at my desk. I then work straight until 6:00, when I get home to a hot dinner also made by my wife.
Step up your game.

Yes. When we go to work, we actually, you know - work; rather than stand around all day drinking a gallon of Starbucks and only having one hand free to do anything productive.

That is because the entitlement generation think's it is OK to get to work at 9:30AM and leave at 5:00PM, and then complain when the government doesn't give them freebies. If everyone worked as me we would all be rich.
Nothing screams "American" more than your post. Always taken yourself this seriously?

Nice post coming from the computer your mommy set for you in her basement. Does she delivery cookies to you whenever you cry out?

Thanks. No, I had some fun when I was younger, but then I got serious and found a good career when it counted. Now I make $200,000/year. Those who say "money can't buy happiness" have never had money. I have a hot wife, a fast car (Mercedes SLK55 AMG), and a large house in a nice town. What more could I ask for?

Not to be an insecure tool who confuses envy with affirmation.
Frederick the Great said:
It is disgusting to notice the increase in the quantity of coffee used by my subjects, and the amount of money that goes out of the country as a consequence. Everybody is using coffee; this must be prevented. His Majesty was brought up on beer, and so were both his ancestors and officers. Many battles have been fought and won by soldiers nourished on beer, and the King does not believe that coffee-drinking soldiers can be relied upon to endure hardships in case of another war.
A great man. Looked like George Washington.
