I was reading "The Lively Lady" by Kenneth Roberts (1931 - the last of the three books in the Arundel series) and came across this:
"I find it hard to make clear the feel of swiftness in a vessel. It is a little like that which comes into the body of a runner at times - a quick consciousness of lightness and suppleness, as though running were no exertion, and could be continued indefinitely."
Pretty cool, I thought.
