What has been the outcome of Gay's "substantial assistance"?
Like Lance pre-confession criticizing dopers
lol
WADA did not appeal the ban reduction as they term " substantial assistance" as full disclosure.

The details haven't been released yet. I would hazard to guess that those details are on hold, pending the results of Drummond's lawsuit.
thanks fred, it constantly amazes me that people are so retarded to think that someone gives substantial assistance and "Poof!" there's automatically 4 other guys that go down in the next two weeks! sheesh people, things take time, some times as long as a couple of years

I am not too happy about the shortness of Gay's ban considering he tested positive for the hard stuff. However, from a legal standpoint, historically, there has always been a reduction in punishment for pleading guilty and cooperating. When an athlete admits guilt, it saves USADA a lot of time and money and cooperating helps USADA in a number of other ways. The antidoping agencies are the cops, catching dopers and giving out penalties is there existence. USADA would not have shorten Gay's sentence unless it was within the rules and they benefited from it...it was not done for Gay's benefit. In terms of what information Gay provided, it was a full disclosure of his own use and everything else he knew...basically he snitched on everyone. What is also unique about Gay's situation is that USADA/WADA has the biologics to prove that Gays was not a career doper; he doped during a short window. And, based on a number of factors, there is a strong belief among some that Gay truthfully did not know he was doping. You can either believe that or believe Gay is so incredibly stupid enough to compete twice with a known PED in his system and at a level that is easily detectable. Multimillion dollar athletes have a much more sophisticated approach to doping. The reduction in Gay's ban could have easily been overturned by WADA and or the IAAF, USADA would have fought that, but it was upheld by both organizations. Keep in mind that the IAAF committee is made up a lot of staunch antidoping advocates.
I can see how Bolt and many other might disagree with how the Gay situation was handled, but keep in mind that we don't know the full story (I know some of it) and we have to respect the collective wisdom and judgment of our national and international governing bodies. In term Bolt’s comments, the first thing I will say is that we (the USA) is catching our own athletes, USADA busted Gay. JADA as an antidoping agency is less reliable than the checkout window at McDonalds, while at the same time Jamaica is the number one ranked direst country in track & field.
You clearly have no knowledge of the judicial and law enforcement systems, so STFU.
Also, we don't have to "respect" the "collective wisdom and judgment" of governing bodies. All we have to do is to abide by their decisions inasmuch as they comport with the rule of law, which is something else entirely.
I can never stand it when some "coach" thinks he knows something about anything important.
The IAAF and USADA should be ashamed that they've banned gays!

Ah, that's the Letsrun spirit we all know and love! Someone dares to voice an opinion and is promptly beaten down by someone else who thinks his own opinion is the only correct one. Good community, this.
His "opinion" has a defective factual basis, and should therefore be discounted.

Plea bargain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A plea bargain (also plea agreement, plea deal or copping a plea) is an agreement in a criminal case between the prosecutor and defendant whereby the defendant agrees to plead guilty to a particular charge in return for some concession from the prosecutor. This may mean that the defendant will plead guilty to a less serious charge, or to one of several charges, in return for the dismissal of other charges; or it may mean that the defendant will plead guilty to the original criminal charge in return for a more lenient sentence.[1]
A plea bargain allows both parties to avoid a lengthy criminal trial and may allow criminal defendants to avoid the risk of conviction at trial on a more serious charge. For example, in the U.S. legal system, a criminal defendant charged with a felony theft charge, the conviction of which would require imprisonment in state prison, may be offered the opportunity to plead guilty to a misdemeanor theft charge, which may not carry a custodial sentence.
...WTF are you missunderstanding
Although you certainly don't know it, you have just proven everything that I said about you.

Sad, isn't it? But it's hard to have respect for others when you have none for yourself.
