I'm 18 and just recently graduated High School. I was always on the heavier side as a distance runner (about 5'9 and 150) and have been trying to lose weight for the past few months. I'm running a half marathon at the end of august and running club XC in the fall at college, so I've been running ~50-60mpw and doing speed workouts here and there for the half. I've changed my diet significantly (mostly only eating vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and not many carbs - probably not enough) and am eating most likely 1700-1800 calories per day - which is markedly below my BMR. However, I've noticed that I've GAINED weight while doing this, as I'm currently 152. My body shape looks better, but the number itself is physically higher and is much higher than my goal weight of 145. I have tried losing weight in the past and have never been able to do it without practically starving myself and rendering my body incapable of running. What am I doing wrong? Also, what should my goal weight be? Thanks in advance.
