Both are feel-good stories, but which guy would you rather have the most success?

I am pulling for McDougal more right now.
Webb had massive success, but didn't accomplish all the things he 'should have', however he still ran incredibly fast times and won some legit races. He was an Olympian, US Champion and had historic range from 800 - 10k.
McDougal's running career was cut short before it really started professionally while Webb had a long time to give it a shot. IMO he could have been a great US marathoner. I see him as an Alan Culpepper type guy but better.
I'm not rooting/pulling for either more than the other, but I'll be following Webb more.
There's more mystery behind it, beginning a new sport and already posting relevant times. I would love to see a legit surge from McDougal, but I just highly doubt he'll be relevant in running again.
Webb. Just for the mere fact that he has a lot more chance for success.
Even if McDougal stays healthy, his peak is probably 13:20-13:30, which isn't anywhere close to world class. Whereas Webb, if he continues to improve, can possibly be a top 5-10 triathlete by RIO.
Both. But if I had to choose one- McDougal. Webb has had the world as his figure tips as far as having the tools to succeed until lately. He had 10+ years a professional even with that did not make a team since 2004. McDougal is fighting his way back against all odds and with no help or support.
Eww. I wouldn't pull for either of them. I doubt I could even get fully hard thinking about them.
I think I'd prefer the one who knows how and when to use "whom."
Who is McDougal?

Webb made teams in 2005 & 2007 and made the finals both years. in 2007 he set the current US championships record.
I do not see why it has to be one over the other. Both seem like great guys.

I am sure you meant this to be helpful... however you just proved their point with more creditable dates. 2007... it is now 2014. Webb was not only getting some finical assistance but a lot for those years and still could not comeback. Wonder what would have happened had McDougal been given that time and pay while injured.

No
My point was to correct a factually inaccurate statement he made, which was:
"[Webb] did not make a team since 2004"
As I stated, this is incorrect. He made teams in 2005 & 2007.
