It looks like an injury will have ended this years track seaso prematurely for me (I was hoping to finish racing in September with a few PRs over 1500 and 3000).
So far, I've managed to improve my 800m time to a 1:54 with about four and a half months of solid, intense training at 30-40 mpw and will now probably have to rest for a few weeks..
I would like to use this premature end to my season in order to run a long and proper autumn/winter preparation for next summer this winter (for the first time in my life).
How should I proceed from here?
My biggest fear is that I'll lose the bit of speed that I have. I can run a 200 in about 24.5 at the moment and really don't want to lose the bit of speed that I have. At the same time, I'd like to do some decent mileage for the first time in my life (though I also have a tendency to get injured quite qickly, so I'll have to see how things pan out there...)
How do you maintain speed during winter?
How do you prepare for next summer (in winter)?
Any help is appreciated.
