Of course you can, but why would you want to train in something so minimal? There is a reason most Nike athletes wear the Peg or Structure as their everyday trainer.
IMO a little bit of heft in my daily trainer not only saves my legs, but also makes me feel that much faster when I put my flats on for a workout or race.
What most NIKE athletes wear is irrelevant.
Most runners, regardless of if they are pros or not, wear cushioned shoes.
The amount of runners with injuries has been more or less constant despite "advances" in technology.
It makes zero sense to do the majority of your running in a shoes that is very unlike the one you will be racing in. Not only do you not adapt as much to the stresses of running in more minimal shoes, but you are more likely to get injured if the only time you wear those shoes is for your hardest running.
