don't know about nike steaks but the A5 are the best things I have ever put on my feet

By Nike Streaks, I'm assuming the Streak LT2? Both the A5's and Streaks are on runningwarehouse.com right now on discount. I am using the LT2's for training right now and they are working great. They aren't as low down as flats should be, in my opinion, but they have a great feel to them. Can't really comment on the A5's, but I know someone who got them and loved them.
Why do you need a road flat for XC? Wouldn't XC spikes work better for you (especially on torn up courses)?
I run road races with the A5 and I like them a lot.
as someone stated, you are better off with a pair of spikes. Don't really matter which ones, but make sure it's for long distance, has some durability and you feel confortable with them. But if you really want to use flats i would suggest adidas hagio2 (my road flat), adios2 or some lunarglides.
Pretty much every XC spike on the market is available in a spineless version as well
