Faded badly. He needs Farah in front of him.
The others almost all fell down, and still outkicked him.
All this waiting nonsense is stupid.
He should go to the front before the pace falls off and run his own race from the front.

He was 2nd right behind Lalang with 800m to go. Possibly he should have hit that spot in a faster time? He was leading at the bell, at @ ~12:00.

More like 12:04

Maybe closer to 12:04; point then that it was already too slow at that point to get the AR.
I'm officially sick of Rupp and his near-misses. Jenny, however, is one of my favorite Americans. She brings it.
First of all, he's not going home. Secondly, he is honing his racing skills. His closing ability is getting scary good, back to London 2012 good.
Awesome race.
By the way, Simpson needs to learn how to WIN. If she would have won she would have set the AR. Great race, though.

Rupps staying in Europe? Seriously?

That would a grave marriage error on Rupp's part.
Farah's shown him that if you want to be great, you have to go wherever it takes, without paying attention to family, as much as that hurts.
Honing racing skills? With 26:44, the only tactic that applies in run in the front. Only a handful can hold the equivalent pace at 5000.

I'm waiting for the important news
what was his after race workout?
racing is a poor way to judge what a runner should run
every poster on this board knows that dissecting post race workouts is a much better way to understand a runners potential worth than actual racing
racing can only tell us history
it tells us only what someone did
what a runner did in one race is history
we need to know how good he should be
the fact that Jim Ryun's 48 year old race PB would have placed him 4th on the US list last year means nothing because there were no pros or Africans around then.
plus we have no evidence he ever did a post race workout so we can not figure out exactly how good he should have been.
.

Excellent post. So constructive! I hope you are a coach.

+1. They need to stop hyping his record attempts, especially at 5000m because for whatever reason that race doesn't work for him, maybe it's mental or something. 3:34/3:50/7:30/low 26:44, but now he can't seem to get under 13:00 for 5k, which is a great time by some measures, but not for him.
If he's not going to go up with the rabbits and actually try to hit the splits, his camp needs to stop talking about it. It's stupid. So then he's just going for the win? Sure, only problem is he CANNOT outkick Soi or Alamerew (sp? who cares), or several others if they're on. Stop talking about it, BE about it, as the Marines say. I think they say that...
Or just go for Lagat's 3000m record, even his 1500m record. These are easier than 12:53.0 for Rupp.
Jet Lag. You should try it.
I'm a little disappointed that he was so far off the record there never should have been talk about one, I will say, I'm thrilled we've gotten to the point where an American finishing 4th in a diamond league race in 13:00 is a disappointment. Most of you guys must not have been around in say, 2003.

Is this a serious post?

You gave to realize that most LR posters are a pack of phaggy trevz and gonts who are jealous of Rupp. They are also a bunch of candy arsed PC sissies who are compelled by a lifetime of brainwashing to hate and ridicule Rupp because he doesn't have the bend over and grab your ankles attitude toward the Africans that they do.

I don't like Rupp, doesn't mean I don't love American distance running. Does me not liking Mike Miller make me against basketball?
A part of sports is having fans who like certain teams/people and dislike others. Get the f*ck over people not liking Rupp.
