for the men I'll go with Meb, Ritz, then either Arciniaga or Gotcher.
Women will probably be Hastings, Davila, Flanagan
Abdi in the men, Cherobon-Bawcom in the women?
will buzenesh deba and sam chalanga have USA citizenship by then?
Becky Wade
I would add Ryan Vail to the list. Rupp would have to be the favorite if he decided to do it.
Flying under the radar?
"I think this is a wake-up call for a lot of the older athletes. The younger athletes are upping the game..."
That post was meant for 'bike shed'; I already had Vail on the list.
Somebody mentioned Eggleston with his recent 20:10:xx. Given his age, he'd be a long shot.
Meb is not a lock, given his age.
Ritz, Hall, Vail

Hall is certainly not a lock given his inability to train and complete races at a high enough level.

Ryan has been fine at both marathon trials, so think better next time. His credentials and ability are greater than anyone in the field. 2:06 at London. Who has come even close to that? Hall will be on the team.
Man's team - Who knows? The only US marathoner worth their salt now, and for the foreseeable future, is Meb. There seems to be an increased amount of guys running in the 1:02 range for the half, but if anything, marathoners have kinda been in a decline the last 4-5 years. Even at 10k, we're pretty thin. Perhapse our depth in the 5k will have a bunch of guys looking to make a splash at the longer distances where it's much less competitive, but we'll have to wait and see. For what it's worth, I don't think Ritz, Hall, or Meb...well, maybe Meb, but I don't think Ritz or Hall will make the team in 2016.
Women's however, is looking intriguing (in no particular order).
-Shalane
-Kara
-Molly Huddle (maybe)
-Deba (pursuing citizenship I believe)
-Kleppin
-Wade
-Hastings
-Desi
Also, tons of young tallent that may rather risk their chances at the marathon rather then attempting to make it in a fairly dense 5k/10k crop right now.
McDougal??? Really, Rio 2016? Hey, it would be a great comeback story!
Another Dark Horse in the men: Chris Solinsky!
Speaking of untested Dark Horse for the women: Sara Hall! Really??? Sara Hall in the marathon for Rio 2016?!? Maybe if she can get back to logging big miles at +8000' (like in Ethiopia before her breakout 10miler Champs) for the next two years!

Given his age? He's 28 and turns 29 next fall. This is his time to make it happen.
My bad, make that 29 and turning 30 next fall. Definitely not old and has a lot of experience.
Ok, Eggleston appears to be a viable candidate at this point, per the article linked by LRC:

Is Western State alum Gabe Proctor still with MTC?
CAITLIN COMFORT
Future marathoner?
Can this girl get to altitude, or at least an altitude tent?
