I wouldn't like to see Kenensia attempt the double unless the schedule was 10000m (final only) day 1 and then the 5000m heat at least 2 day later with another 2 days to the 5000m final. There is no doubt he is capable of medaling in both and winning the 10000m; however, the 5000m would be a tough-unless he was tried to make it sub 12:50 (few would follow that pace). |

my guess is keninisa will double in the 5 and 10k and his brother may sacrifice himself in the 5k, by going about 9-10 laps at sub 1250 which only keinisa seems like he can go the whole 5k at so far this year. |

keninisa will run his final race before worlds in a 3k race at the dn galen games, his countrywoman will run the 5k at dn galen on august 7th. |

Kenenisa is definitely in mindboggling form at the moment an have some sport writers thinking he could challenge Daniel Komen's legendary 3000m WR. ...... Bekele pounces in the 3000m Peerless in Stockholm - Kenenisa Bekele en route to career best in the 3000m With the current form he is displaying, Bekele needs to find someone who can better manage to assist him with world record pace setting, because the 25-year-Old Ethiopian is definitely in such shape. The rabbits left him alone at the front after a first half clip of 3:47. The multiple world champion stepped up the pace and produced a couple of 58-second laps, reaching the finish in 7:25.79 to become history’s sixth fastest man over the distance. |

He still has a long way for the 3k WR...running. Komen ran 3.40 back to back! which is no joke! |

Definitely Komen's record is no joke; however, consider that Kenenisa Bekele ran 7:25 and the pacemakers didn't make it past 1500m. Alot of things must go right to beat that record: fast track for distance running, good weather, good pacing to atleast 2000m, and maybe alittle competition. His 7:25 and running most of it alone shows that the record is within his capabilities- now he just have to get in the right scenario! |

i definetely think kenenisa will run the 5k after the 10k, and the pace in the 5k will be fast as i think tariku will set a fast pace and sacrifice himself for keninisa. mesfin i got some news today werknesh kidane is pregnant with her second child, congratulations to her and gebremariam. |

KENENISA Bekele, the world's greatest distance runner, has slammed Craig Mottram, questioning the hype surrounding the Australian coming into the world titles. In an extraordinary attack, Bekele said Mottram, who will start the gold medal favourite in the 5000m, was overrated and had got him at a weak moment when he beat him at last year's World Cup in Athens. Bekele, the world record holder over 5000m and 10,000m, has decided to focus on only the longer event in Osaka but his younger brother Tariku will race against Mottram. After pulling out of several planned races this season, the Ethiopian finally raced against Mottram in Sheffield last month where he won producing a career-best 3000m time. "Everyone talked about him," Bekele said. "Everyone referred to the defeat in Athens last year as a major event and he (Mottram) was given a lot of publicity as the man to have beaten Kenenisa. "I ran in Sheffield specifically to test myself against Mottram. I found out that there really was never a competition between us. The only reason he beat me in Athens was because I was jetlagged, tired, and had run too much in the season. "It (the rivalry) was not as it was made out to be. There was no contest in Sheffield. I ran alone when the pacemakers dropped out and the rivalry was perhaps too exaggerated. He is not as strong as people thought." Aside from Sheffield, Mottram has dominated in Europe this season winning over 5000m in Ostrava and defeating Tariku Bekele over two miles in Oregon. Kenenisa Bekele, the reigning Olympic 10,000m champion, was listed to run in Oregon, but pulled out at the last minute. Mottram's coach Nic Bideau shrugged off the Ethiopian's attack last night saying it showed he obviously doesn't rate his brother's abilities. "He (Mottram) has beaten his brother a couple of times so I guess he doesn't think his brother is very good," he said. "I would say at Sheffield, yeah, he (Mottram) wasn't as strong as we thought so he's right, Bekele, he wasn't as good at Sheffield but he was good at Athens. "We can't do anything about that (jetlag in Athens), that is his fault and his problem. Look, he is the world record holder, he is the world champion, he is the Olympic champion, but in Athens last year Mottram was better and that is all we know. "He (Bekele) has won most of the time but Buster has beaten Bekele one more time than most people have. "We knew he really wanted to beat Buster in Sheffield, we saw that and that just goes to show he must think a bit more of him than he is saying because he came out really ready in Sheffield." Mottram arrived in Japan yesterday and headed to his training base in Chiba where he will stay until the heats of the 5000m next Thursday. He has recovered from a hamstring spasm suffered last week during a session in London. Bideau said he wouldn't use Bekele's stinging attack as a motivational tool for his man. "I never mention those sort of things to him because he (Mottram) is doing everything he can anyway," Bideau said. |

stupied coach and stupied athlete. the coach main concern is mottram to be know by the king. here we are saying mottram is by far inferior and we can not compare him to the living legend period!! |

i agree that mottram is way way overrated, if he has the talent of bekele am sure that they would have made him the president of australia. |

I don't think Mottram is overrated. We all know that KB is better. We also know that Mottram and Web both have shown it is possible for whites to run fast in the mile/5000m. Clearly, there have been issues on selfconfidence since Coe, Ovett, Scott, and Cram dominated the middle distances (UK is still in a rut), but times are changing. The gap will be closing, gentlemen. |

Craig Mottram is a very outstanding talent and should be given press; however, to state there is a rivalary between him and Kenenisa isn't accurate. Yes he beat Kenenisa Bekele once and Craig is a world class athlete. A rivalary assumes that the two are NEAR equal and trade wins on a somewhat regular basis- that's not the case. You wouldn't say the number 2 or 3 tennis player in the world has a rivalary with the number one player when they lose 4 out 5 matches. Craig Mottram is a outstanding runner who is a elite runner that comes out on the losing end as MOST of Kenenisa Bekele's competitors. |

any predictions for this race. Mine is only 26:25 if tadesse helps. if he doesn't 26:40's i think it will be too much to ask.. after osaka. Bekele showed a little fatigue there.. and i am not sure 3 weeks of rest is significant. Hermans said kenenisa overtrained for osaka...i doubt that.. he probably did the same thing. I see a kink in the armor... Seleshi would have won that race? |

Why are you always making a fool of yourself by posting these silly comments? Unless you are involved in the success of the ethiopian runners, it might be advisable to be less cocky. |
