man i love how so many of the people on the first several pages(i don't have time to read all 50 some) were way off, there was a guy that said he would bet everything he owned on bekele never breaking either world record, man was he wrong, this is an awesome thread |

Mottram said "I’m looking forward now to the 5000m in Crystal Palace (London, UK, 28 July), where Bekele and the Kenyans will be lining up. I’m confident that I can beat them.” |

In another thread I predicted Bekele would run 3:32 high to 3:33 low; however, I got the placing wrong. What does this say about the top 1500m runners that he easily bested? This is proof Kenenisa Bekele could compete solely as a top 1500m runner if he trained for the event specifically. Ethiopia's Kenenisa Bekele, the world 5,000 and 10,000 record holder, won the 109th edition of the Dickson Trophy at 1,500, clocking 3:33.08. "It was my first 1,500 and it was not easy because I was not prepared for this distance," Bekele said. He wasn't prepared for the distance and won, okay! |

Anybody know if he's scheduled to run any more 1500s this season? I'd really like to see him get in a faster race with Ramzi and Komen to get under 3:30. |

I don't think he have scheduled anymore 1500m; however, if he drops out of contention for the $500,000 in gold- you could look to see him jump in some more 1500m races. |

Yesterday kenenisa gave interview about the remaining comp. at the golden league and he confirmed he will win with big margin and his defeat for the recent two comp. was the lack of concentration and doing comp. with in short period of time. |

Is this a joke or what he lose by nearly 2 seconds in a slow and kick race but he think he can outrun the World Recordholder in a fast race? Quote of the Day: "I know I will beat him (Bekele) soon. This was a tactical race with no pacesetter. Had it been a fast race, the results might have been different," -Kenya's 20-year old Mike Kigen after finishing second to Bekele at the African champs. Kigen very much looks like a star in the making and clearly shows that he's not intimidated by the great Bekele. |

Kenenisa almost beat all kenyan best 5000 mr runners including isac, choge, limo..........., lost to issac and avenge twice (5000mr and 1500mr) lagat case is that with out rest, with in 3 day gap it is expected. one thing is certain, keneinsa is improving from time to time for short distance and it will be much difficult for kenyan to beat him easily. mike kigen please firt work hard test your self and then you can say any thing. too much is not good |

The quote of the day doesn't make much sense by the young Kenyan. Mike Kigen is talented enough that if he races Bekele enough he may eventually beat him but what would 1 or 2 wins versus numerous loses prove? At the 2006 World X-Country Championships 12km he ran himself to exhaustion trying to get away from Kenenisa and lost over 10 seconds in the last 800m. At the African Championships 5000m Mike Kigen lost nearly 2 seconds to Kenenisa in the kick for home so what makes him think he could outkick him or outlast him in a fast pace race? |

Can anybody beat Bekele in a fast paced race? I don't think so. |

Kigen was close to Bekele in his Oslo defeat (12:58) to Isaac Songok and once again in Mauritius in a very tactical race. However he was however completely destroyed in Rome (13:05 for 12th). It must be said that he is young and has recorded enormous personal bests this year (7:35 3k, 12:58 5k), so it remains to be seen if there will be any truth to his bravado. |

How about abreham cherkose.. the youngster is running 12:54 |

which is most impressive: Abreham Feleke (28 Sept 1989) 12:54.19 -or- Ibrahim J. Gashu (12 June 1989) 27:15.90 Feleke was pulled to his time as he placed 5th but Gashu sat on the Kenyans and kicked to an easy victory. Will either be the next Bekele or better? |

Seem like he needs to curtail his bravado and simply win against lesser opponents before thinking of Kenny B. as Mike Kigen lost in another kicking contest in the African Championship 10000m. |

Mike Kigen just another Kenyan with delusions of beating Kenny B.
