Guess what? Long-term forecasts show HepsXC going to be a cold one! Oh joy.
Now, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about Harvard's Viviana Hanley (she's Harvard's top returning scorer from 2013 but has yet to race this XC season)? She's listed on the roster but I was wondering if she is injured and out for the season. Anyone heard any rumors?
Also, has anyone else heard any other rumors about who will be or not be racing this weekend?

I have heard next to nothing this year, and nothing at all about key people. Zero. It's amazing.
Either everyone's healthy, or (more likely) the meet shapes up as so close that all the teams are playing their cards incredibly close to the vest.
That Saturday forecast (for rain or snow) is pretty daunting. I may have to skip this one.
Oh geez - it does now include rain in Saturday's forecast. I'm guessing this is going to be another 2011 HepsXC, but hopefully this time, no one goes to the hospital for hypothermia!
And as for the rumors, I find that surprising.
Here goes nothing:
1. awad
2. king
3. everett
4. talbot
5. pons
6. boyle
7. purnell
8. dooney
9. gorman
10. mcdonald
11. eimstad
12. shearn

Where am I wrong?
How does that play out for team scores?
McDonald of Princeton was #1 Ivy runner at Wisconsin ahead of King, Everett, Talbot, Boyle, Purnell and Gorman. Came in 3rd at HYP to Dooney by .3 of a second. 10th?
I get:
Dartmouth 47
Princeton 76
Columbia 78
Cornell 42 through 3
Penn 13 through 2
Harvard 21 through 2
Yale 25 through 2
Brown 0 through 0
I think you're understating how close it'll be. Dartmouth may very well win; in fact, if Gorman runs even remotely close to what he did last year, they should win. However, barring a blowup from guys like McDonald and Pons, I can't see Dartmouth winning by so much. I see a fairly close race between Dartmouth and Princeton, then Yale, Cornell, and Columbia potentially battling it out for a win on a great day, but otherwise fighting for third.

If Dooney is as far back as eighth, I'll eat my spikes.
Furthermore, I'd add that the 25 guys in your top 25 seem very accurate, and probably 20 or so of them will end up being in the top 25. I think the order is a little off though for a prediction even. My top 25 though is:
1. Awad
2. Pons
3. Dooney
4. McDonald
5. Purnell
6. King
7. Talbot
8. Everett
9. Eimstad
10. Owens
11. Shearn
12. Tomlin
13. Adams (D)
14. Randon
15. Sublette
16. Masterson
17. Boyle
18. Melly
19. Maritim
20. Beck
21. Gorman
22. Golestan
23. Deluca
24. Eversole
25. Geithner
Team scores:
1. Princeton 51
2. Dartmouth 63
3. Yale 84
4. Columbia 98
5. Cornell 113
6. Harvard 119
7. Penn 125
8. Brown 175
Are you all excited for this weekeend? I am.
It's been a long time since I've been to a college xc race. Far too long. Perhaps I'm too excited. Without further ado, I present to you - the lontest NCAA conference xc preview in the history of the world. More than 8000 words.

Women's preview will be up soon.
Weren't you at HEPs last year?
Wow your picks are pretty close to what I had in my preview.
THe women's preview is now up as well:
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/10/2014-heps-womens-cross-country-preview-nationally-ranked-princeton-dartmouth-lead-way/Awesome write-up, thanks Rojo. Only thing I disagree on is that I would've picked Princeton as the favorite on the men's side with Dartmouth second, and Dartmouth as the favorite on the women's side with Princeton second... but that's what Saturday is for!
Quit talking about the heps. Get your votes in. Final day to vote.
Takes like a minute
We need a few more heps votes.

Yes and I went to NCAA xc. But nothing since.
So almost a year. That's a stark contrast from going every week for 10 years.
Nice work on the preview Rojo!

You heard it here first...
One person that everyone seems to be forgetting is Pat Gregory of Dartmouth. I mean sure the kid is only a freshman, but with times like 1:49/4:01/8:45 for 800/mile/2mile in high school, hes definitely a guy that can be counted on. Plus, hes been running consistently well for the big green all season, he was their 3rd man at Wisco (23:34). If you ask me, that list should be revised to put Gregory in the top 5, probably even ahead of Dooney. The kid has just been itching to hit a fast opening pace all season, and with the right conditions, I think he has sub 23:10 potential at West Windsor Fields, not to mention the fact that NO ONE will outkick him, not with all the plyos coach harwick has his men doing up north.
Okay, I'm about 90% sure I'll be missing this one. Can't afford to get sick.
Good luck, all!
