He would have beaten Farah too.

Rupp yes. Farah, no.
Farah, yes... Ches is only a college frosh...

Bolt would have beaten them both if they had walked the race until the last 200!
I'm not sure he would probably be really tired. And actually, I bet it would be hard for him to start sprinting after walking 6 miles. He'd probably be tight.

I'm completely impressed by Ches, but do we know if he's in shape for 13:00-13:05? He may well be.
It is different running a blasting last 200-300 off of a pace that looks like you are nearly walking vs a pace that is near red line.
That said, I have a feeling we will see ches in a few years having fun in the diamond league, any race where he is near the lead with a lap to go is going to be fun to watch.
We may see a big matchup at USAs next summer.
It will be interesting to see how long he stays at Oregon.
I think it's particularly impressive to see a guy who was so dominant in HS improve so much in his first year of college running.
Are those of you who are convinced he's an age cheat going to argue that he was a clean 22-yr-old his senior year of HS and is now a doped 23-yr-old freshman?
And if that's your argument today, what are you going to say if he improves further from here?
Or might some of you acknowledge that he's a talented 20-yr-old runner with a bright future since his stated age is more consistent with his progression than some kind of age-related conspiracy?
Even if Rupp were jogging I just truly don't believe he has the wheels to run under 25 seconds for the final 200 meters. Ches was even looking back. He had a 24.3 in him for sure.

He has run flying start 11 low HT. Dunno what possibility that indicates, though to me with Rupp the issue as much as anything seems to be inability to change gears quickly. Gaps rapidly open and Rupp usually gets gapped by 5-10m before he starts holding it.
I think Ches probably could beat Rupp if it played out EXACTLY this way, but he might have a tougher time with Rupp driving hard from 1200/800 out.
I would think 11.xx HT is roughly 24.xx for 200m. But I agree, it was even evident in Oslo today that Rupp gets gapped very quickly and by the time he gets rolling the leaders are already too far ahead. Ches has been racing college guys but his gear changes seem unreal. He goes from a jog to a sprint without the need to wind up.

You are probably right, and I think that was the OP's point, which I missed. I took it to mean if they were both in Rupp's 5000, not this 10000.
They seem to run different tactics, Rupp typically takes a race from 500 out or longer if it's his for the win, whereas Ches jumps on it with a couple hundred to go.
International races have more build up than the races that Ches is running in so not a fair comparison.
Can't wait to see what he is really capable of when stretched out.
Good thing Rupp can run a 10k 2 minutes faster than Ches did today though, huh?

Rupp could almost certainly get away from Ches, but it's clear Ches can go way, way faster than 28:30. Whether he is in low 27 shape though I don't think we have an answer to yet.
his kick reminds me EXACTLY of ezekiel kemboi's. their running styles are even every similar (the arm carriage) look it up. i think its definitely got something to do with having shorter legs.

Idiot, the OP said if the race was run exactly the way it was tonight. I.e Rupp runs with them and waits until 200m to go before trying to break away and win. If the race played out that way then Ches would out kick Rupp. The OP didn't say Rupp goes out at 26:40 pace and wins by two minutes...
Yeah you're right, it's a good thing rupp can run two minutes faster. Because that's the only way he would beat him. Rupp would have his doors blown off by Ches in the final 200m. Rupp couldn't out kick collis Birmingham, are we really going to say collis is better then Ches? No.

He was probably older than 22 in high school and was probably doped then too. Now he has better dope, that NOPe dope, centro sauce and oregon juice.
