thoughts on the upcoming season. how was recruiting? any noise with transfer?
gonna be a looong season
shut up :)
GVSU getting a transfer from Adams State who was top 15 in XC.
Godinez graduated. Batt and Stevens only other Adams guys in top 15. One of those guys is really transferring?
After seeing this thread I texted my boy at Adams. He confirmed it is in fact Stevens.
This info is misguided. Masterson is the one transferring. He was 18th at cross country nationals. He has been unhappy with his treatment while being injured and has decided to move closer to home.
None of you asshats are right. lol It was a non responder to altitude who basically had to leave because he wasn't going to be able to run as well as he'd hoped due to the inability for his body to adapt to high altitude training. Not masterson, wasn't top 15, was probably a redshirt. Carry on
Luterbach. 15th in xc in 2012
dirty dave knack tiffin transfer is taking gold for AU @ worlds this yr
Trust me on this one. That non-resonder is gonna make waves at Grand Valley. He was always a threat to grab the number one roster spot at Adams, but unfortunately his body wore down due to the altitude. If he isn't competing for the national title this year I'll be more than surprised. It's rare such an infinite, untapped talent finds its way to Allendale.
Straight from the horses mouth: it's Stevens.
looooooool stevens a non responder to altitude? yeah right, and like hed ever leave adams for another d2 institution...thats asinine. hes had way too much success there to ever think about leaving unless he was going pro/d1
How can we believe your logic when you can't even capitalize and use punctuation?
You guys got it all wrong! It sounds like Smohkroqs has some solid information about Stevens wanting to come up to Michigan, but Stevens is not the non-responder. My son, an athlete at GVSU, hosted a transfer on a visit from Adams who was supposedly the non-responder to altitude. He hasn't confirmed but will be a game changer for Grand Valley if he commits to the program. Just to reiterate Stevens is not the non-responder.
Who is this world beater of a non-responder?
I call shenanigans.
Non-responder aside, I'll take a stab at discussing the upcoming season.
GVSU has a strong team returning: Peterson, Bradley, Flores, May, Cini, Duff, Pageau, etc... They will have depth but should also have a good pack at the front. Peterson and Bradley are contenders for the individual title. Ashland has: Baum, Hall, Knack, Sussman and Potes. Baum is another indivdual title contender. Malone will be lead with quality runners such as Roush, Trusty and Whitaker. Mirth from Hillsdale will also be a contender. So, team title picks?
1 GVSU
2 Ashland
3 Malone
Individual
1 Bradley
2 Baum
3 Peterson
4 Roush
5 Mirth
taking into consideration that Charlie Michel doesn't return for AU I think that's fair projection, but if he's back that can shake things up a bit.
It was stated a few times in the track thread that Michel wouldnt be returning. If he does, it will be a closer finish team wise. Either way, i'd stick by team prediction. Of course I have no idea about any newcomers this season.
regarding this new transfer to gvsu... in my opinion, theres no way stevens or daniels or any of their complete studs are leaving, so i did some research and have determined that GVSU's new transfer must be luterbach. you guys claim he's a top 15 xc guy, and a non responder to altitude. well luterbach was 15th in 2012 cross (barely top 15, but still 15th) then seems to have fallen off the face of the earth until this year when he ran 1426/351. he maybe got hurt in winter after a break out cross season because i cant seem to find anything, but either way should be at least making national meets for adams. this year he ran 1426 at mt sac, and a couple weeks later ran 1611 at 7500ft in alamosa. looks like a kid who cant run at altitude to me? hes from wisconsin, so close to gvsu. this is all speculation, maybe hes had injury issues the past couple years and none of his fluctuation in race results have a correlation with altitude, but im having trouble finding a result in which this kid runs good up in the mountains. either way he should be a huge asset to gvsu, another 1420 guy added to the stable is huge, theyre looking quite strong this year. he ran 415/913 in high school so the kids got some talent and potential.
