After running a solo 3:32 split in the World Relays, Kiprop hinted that he was going to be going after a 3:26 1500 this year, which I believe only Lagat and El Guerrouj have run. It should be noted that to break the WR he would actually have to run 3:25 (Hicham's WR is 3:26.00, if I'm not mistaken).
Do you guys think that Kiprop has what it takes to get into the 3:26 club, and possibly even set a new WR? I'm very excited to follow the mile this summer, as it seems there are plenty of good runners out there (Kiprop and I beloved Kiplagat have already run 3:29 in May). I didn't follow track really for a long time until this summer, so I don't know that much about Kiprop or his competition (his PR is 3:27, right?), so I thought I'd ask the experts on here.
Even if he can't get that 1,500 WR, he should go after the mile WR, which is a bit slower I believe. Can't wait to watch both the men's and women's miles at Pre this weekend!
