Curious as to how many 4x1500s do you all think have ever been run in the history of the world?
They do run it for women at Penn. I think they run both at Drake?
Anywhere else?

Not an answer to your question but a different one: Wouldn't the 4xmile be more interesting to watch? 4 laps is much easier to follow
raleigh relays runs a 4x1500, not sure how many years they've been doing it
Peter Larsson's all-time list for this event ( at http://www.alltime-athletics.com ) is 80-deep & includes performances back to the 1960s. Not a definitive answer but it gives an approximate idea, at least at the world/elite level.

they ran it for men at penn for a long time too.
it's rare, but still run at some high school meets. The New Jersey Catholic Track Conference runs it annually at their spring relay meet, for instance.
it's run at some college meets too - someone mentioned raleigh relays. i ran it there once in the 90s. also ran it at the colonial relays at william & mary.
Based on today: too many.
Yes, too many. Ridiculous event.
4x800 is not much better. Yes it was close today but only for a ridiculous reason.
my small club in europe has a 4x1500m record of 15:1X so I guess there have been alot of those relays in the past

I have run 15.20 for 4 miles but I was probably running 4 times your mileage.

umm, no. a mile is more than 4 laps on a typical track. a 4x1 mile on a 400m track would be epic-ugly.
