Giving this a bump. Having laparoscopic surgery in a few weeks and would like to hear from xenon/others on how long they didn't run for. I'm hoping for 3 weeks. Would this be realistic? Thanks.
Hey! So three weeks sounds totally realistic but every surgery is different.
I ended up rushing it a little but was back doing light exercise after a few days and light running after about a week. I had to start with very small amounts of running. It hurt a little the first few days I ran, so if I could go back I probably would have waited an extra few days until the pain went away completely. But I had almost no complications* and ran a PR that season.
* I strained my diaphragm (seriously) because my core muscles were seriously weakened, and I couldn't do a single push-up for about two weeks. But I recovered from this very quickly.
* From the surgery, pain medications, and lack of exercise, I went into a major depressive episode which was probably the hardest thing I've been through in my life, so make sure you have emotional support. Surgery is weird and does weird things to your head.
