. . . because Mary Cain is now official for the 1500m . . . and so is Elise Cranny.

Why would Rupp waist time running a 1500 with these guys when he can drop a sub4 alone after 8 miles of work in a workout session? Pointless
I was under the impression he was only going to run the 5k if the 10k didn't work out.
Figured they would wait until closer to see if weather/pollen and other competitors for the 10k materialized to make it a fast one.
Wow, maybe because he's doing the 10K the night before. How interesting indeed.

Mary Cain being entered is interesting. Don't imply that this is some sort of match race, though.

True but this seems to confirm that Rupp is going for the 10K, which I think most assumed he would if the field came together right and conditions as well, but I thought they would have him on the list for the 5K as a back up.
I'm assuming they have some rabbits lined up now, question is who is in the race to go the distance? I don't really think he'd opt for the 10K unless they thought it could offer a chance to better his AR.
If California Chrome was entered that would be really interesting.

That's a brutal women's 1500m field if everyone listed actually runs. If Cranny can maintain contact, she's likely to run a big PR, but maintaining contact could be very challenging.
Too bad Rupp isn't running the 5000m - looks like the kind of race where he'd have a shot at lowering his PR. I don't see him re-setting his 10000m AR right now, but hey, maybe I'm wrong.
Question: why isn't Centro entered in the Bowerman mile?

California Chrome v Rupp in the Battle of the Nasal Strips
Any news on Evan Jager? After Payton Jordan he said his next race would be PRE, but he's not in the mile or 5K.

re: "If Cranny can maintain contact"
How in the heck is Cranny going maintain contact in a sub-4 race?

Yeah, I don't know whose idea this was but she's way over her head in this one. This is a WC final field.
The grass pollen season in Eugene is getting off to a bit of a slow start, as we have had alternating periods of warm and sunny followed by cool with occasional heavy rains to clear the air and wash the pollen off the grass.
If we get a week straight of dry weather and the wind picks up, the pollen count will go through the roof. The grass/hay around here is chest high already.
what's the point with this show and story just keeps going on and on and people come back alive
- i don't get it
why does everyone fight to be the Kings , honestly what does anyone care?

Only three in the field have bettered four minutes.
Cranny will be fine.

I meant contact with the [back of] the field, not with the lead. I think that will take something like 4:06.5 - not out of the question but a still a big PR.
Will also be interesting to see if Cain can maintain contact with the best in the world in a paced race. Again, I think a pretty significant PR will be required - probably sub 4:02, possibly closer to 4 flat. I think it would be really cool of Cain could manage to beat the Jenny BS 3:59.90 college record while still in HS. Don't think that's likely, but hey, you never know...
Anyway, if that women's 1500m field shows up as currently advertised, there's the potential for a spectacular race.

I can see 2;30 at 800 with everyone treating the lead like a hot potato.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
