The top three girl milers all-time right are competing now: Cain4:05/ Cranny4:10/ Ephraimson4:32. And Alexa has another year to go! Insane.
I see 2 medals at world juniors in the future...girl's middle distance running is in a whole different world now.

Jordan Hasay is #3 AT at 4:14.
Which puts her behind Alexa's 4:32 on the combined list.

Awesome running!
Prerace article about Cranny.
How does 4:14 rank behind 4:32?
Do you mean 4:12?

4:32 is a mile. I believe they are very similar. It would come down to hundredths of a second based on a +18 second conversion for 1500m to mile at that pace.
At that pace -18 is ok for mile to 1500 because they actually covered the distance. +18 is optimistic thinking someone can hold on for 109.3 m. A few can but most run +19.
+1

1) Hasay is no longer a Junior2) He said the top 3 milers. Hasay didn't have as fast a mile as a junior.

People who struggle with basic mile conversions should not even post on comparisons between athletes and events. There are many credible sources to help you with your struggle. Here is the combined list from T&F News:
Combined 1500/1600/mile list (expressed as miles):
4:24.19+ Cain 2013
4:32.15 Efraimson 2014
4:34.86+ Hasay 2008
I'll let you all do the arithmetic to figure where Cranny fits in the above.

Conventional conversion is 1.08 - 4.32.15/1.08 = 4.11.99 (so ~ 4.12.0). No real need for deciding between 18 or 19 seconds or whatever. Since AE is the youngest (HS Jnr), it is more than likely that she will improve on this in the next year. Whether she gets under 4.10 remains to be seen.
What this does set up is the decision for events for World Juniors in Eugene. One assumes that Cain will do the 1500m and maybe also the 800m (if schedule allows). AE was 3rd at World Youth last year in the 1500m, Cranny and Cain didn't try out for the team if I recall.
This leaves one spot open for the 1500m (only 2 participants per country). Who fills it? Does Cranny opt for the 3000m or 800m as backup at the trials? Or not at all since she is going to Stanford for the fall. One assumes that AE will do the 3000m as a first or 2nd event, if Cain and Cranny are in the 1500m. Who else will try out? I would assume that Paladino (Cleary sometimes has his runners - Canadians certainly -, although she will not yet be at WVU, do international meets for the experience) would try for the 3000m. What about Baxter or Knights, etc?
I would hope that ALL hands from the NCAA will be on deck for this meet, given its location. This means that a number of College "true" freshmen (1995's anyway) will be eligible and should try out in my opinion.
