I'm considering a short-term move to NYC this summer for work. I'm currently running around 100mpw and I'd like to continue or even increase my mileage this summer. Has anyone here run this kind of mileage in NYC? Are there any decent running routes? Am I just going to end up running laps around central park every day?
There are a bunch of similar threads if you dig through the forum. Running routes are going to depend on where specifically you live in the city, but anywhere on the west side of Manhattan will give you access to the Hudson River path, which is something like 12 miles. You'll have an easy train ride to Central Park, where you can put together 10 miles without repeating, and a long train ride to Van Cortlandt, where you can run the CC course or hop on the Putnam Trail, which heads north for 30+ miles. If you've got a car you can drive up to Rockefeller State Park; you can also take Metro North to Sleepy Hollow and hop on the Croton Aqueduct trail. I haven't cracked 75 mpw, but not for lack of places to run. There are plenty of people in the city running very high mileage.

Hopefully as close to Mount Sinai Hospital as possible (upper east side of manhattan). I may end up commuting from another area due to the cost of living in that area though.
central park is great though. you can stay on trails for most of your run if you want - no real reason not to do most of your runs there.
from Mount Sinai you'll be able to run along the river on the east side next to the FDR as well but that's paved and flat and crowded so not super fun.

I ran over 100 mpw living in Brooklyn and Staten Island residential areas. Only drove occasionally to a track.
Your question really can't be answered without knowing where you are going to live. Most areas of the outer boroughs are fine for finding places to train. Manhattan is a bit more dicey as far as point of origination.
On the upper east side you will have easy access to the East River trail, Central Park, and Randall’s Island via the pedestrian bridge.
