So I ran Boston yesterday and pretty much bombed. Just one of those days where really everything went poorly. I feel pretty sore today, but nothing unusual for a marathon. I ended up actually missing my BQ for next year, which should be relatively easy (for comparison, continuing my last 22 and 23 mile long runs at the same pace would get me the BQ by ~10 minutes).
So my question is what are the downsides to doing a quick turnaround and trying to find a marathon in the next 6-8 weeks? In terms of effort, I think I could treat it as a faster paced long run and realistically get the BQ easily. I just feel like my fitness is pretty great right now and don't want to waste that. Anyone do anything like this in the past? How would you approach the training for the next few weeks?
