Why am I an idiot
He said he missed 5 days due to his injury, and he wished his tempo runs could have been faster in the build up
Every other runner says they felt great, workouts have been going great, they're in the best shape of their lives
You're an idiot based on what you wrote in your original post.
I wanted to post something along these lines specifically calling out Abdi and Hall. I love Abdi, he's an all time favorite of mine but Jesus the crap he was spouting given what he did was awful.

Go away. OP made a good point. Humility, respecting the competition == winning.

Oh yeah? Like Bolt, MJ, Kemboi, Bekele, Wanjiru, so on and so forth? Life isn't a fairy tale. Repeating the same old cliche, deflecting compliments in press conferences don't do shit to affect the results. I love Meb as much as anyone, but implying his humility resulted in his winning is beyond naive.

Actually, before the Olympic final Bolt said he was only in about "95% shape." He is another example of a guy who was realistic and honest about his fitness, who then went on to win, instead of pretending.
Ok, I'll change it.
Humility, respecting the competition == a refreshing change!
I can give a hundred examples of someone saying they are in the best shape of their life before winning a race. Stop being so nauseatingly brainless.
