Dathan had a 2:06 in him based on his previous two marathons.
I was shocked to hear that the winning time was 2:08. I thought (and you did) Kimetto was going to kill it.
Still, it's awesome to see Meb win.

LOL.
When Meb is healthy he destroys Ritz and today would be no different.
Ritz was not there.
I'm a Ritz fan, but he didn't run today.
Ritz would have stress fractured descending from Heartbreak Hill.
Well, Hall had 2:06 in him based on his previous Boston marathons. And that didn't happen.
Extremely unlikely. Meb ran a fantastic race. Odds of Ritz beating him on this day would have been very, very low.
No way Ritz beats Meb. He wouldn't be able to handle the hills; he needs a flat fast marathon and Boston is not that.
Congrats to Meb..great race today!!!
The argument that _____ would have won if healthy is complete stupidity. Half the battle in the marathon is getting to the start line without injury. That is as much a part of the competition as anything. If you get hurt in training, you lose the race before the gun even goes off. Whether it was a freak accident, an overuse injury or insufficient recovery, it doesn't really matter. Getting hurt means that you were not able to get to the line and not as good a runner as those who did. Today, Meb was better than Ritz and Mosop and anyone else who had a better PR.
Agree. I mean I would have beaten Meb today if only I was in the race, wasn't 30 lbs too heavy, trained twice as much at much higher speeds, had some talent, had a sponsor, a coach, never got hurt, had much more dedication, had 15 more years of aerobic base, and could tolerate pain a lot better.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
