Pretty sure a small news column does not qualify as "America going nuts".
Overcoming that is LIKE WINNING IT!
Why isn't he on the podium? Overcoming Autism is an amazing accomplishment.
It's man with autism. Not autistic kid.

I didn't say he was a kid, but thats amazing nonetheless. It didn't matter if he was 500, overcoming autism at any age for a white man is amazing.
and he ran around 3 hours! Thats about 7 minute pace for 26 miles!
The average american can't even run a mile in 10 minutes.
He ran 2:57.05, pretty good for a basketball player.

running didnt overcome anything. if autism exists, it is NOT a physical disability.
please alert me when he has the social skills to run a fortune 500 company.
It's his 3rd marathon. His previous times were 3:01:41 and 3:00:46.
wow are you really the mother of an autistic kid?
It takes serious dedication to run 3 hours in a 'thon. For an autistic kid to do it is amazing.
And the only skills it took to run Enron was lying and cheating.
anti-social skills you have up your wazoo. social skills are something you clearly lack.

The correct terminology is 'mother of a child with autism' and not, 'mother of autistic kid'. Please use the correct term.
I cooled down with J Mac after a local 5 miler a couple months ago. He was the nicest guy. Awesome to see him have such a good race.
bump
The vast majority of distance runners are autistic. No biggie.
I would say a pretty high percentage of male distance runners have Asperger's. Obviously now separate in DSM, but a lot of people running the marathon were on the spectrum.
What kind of aut does this kid specialize in: dwawings, pottewy, sculptuwes, photogwafy, cinematogwafy?
I don't think you can find a HS cross country team in the nation without a kid with Asperger's, but it's a big spectrum and running a sub 3 Boston with Autism is pretty awesome.

for the very last time, even if autism exists, billions of people have it and it does NOT effect athletic ability.
this kid is a attention hore. go to youtube and see all the millions of dollars he has made of Gatorade commercials, tv interviews, meeting president bush, etc.....
I know people with severe autism that have made large social strides, and nobody gives a crap. yet this kid is getting rich and making a fool out of all of you
I don't like it when people feel bad for people with special needs , like we shouldn't joke around with them. As a person with special needs, I feel like when you get sympathy or special treatment, it's like that person who treats you so carefully is saying there is something wrong with you. I treat them like I would everyone else because that's how I'd want to be treated. I don't mind if people joke about my bipolar. I'm like :(:
