The workout is the standard 10x400 the last 5-6 weeks before a peak performance. Performing the workout once a week.
Method #1
Keep the pace at goal mile pace with each session taking shorter rest. For example week one taking a 90 sec. rest. Week two 80 sec. and so on with the pace the same.
Method #2
Run two seconds faster each week with the same amount of rest between say 2 minutes. For example to break 5 min. mile, week one average 80 sec. Week two 78 sec. and so on.
Is there a more effective way between the two methods?
