Hey guys
I've been out of college for like 2-3 years now and am looking to do a serious half-marathon. Haven't done any training since college, but have stayed in shape (5-10 runs a month, or something like that).
My college PRs were
800 - 1:56
1500 (almost never raced it) - 4:00
3000 steeple - 9:10
5k (doubling back from steeple) - 15:02
8k XC - 24:55
So you can see I was primarily a steeple and xc guy.
In college I never did too many miles, maybe averaged 50-60 during the season. If I tried to maintain 70 I would get fatigued and cloudy-headed, don't know why. I'm a pretty skinny dude, 6' 140lbs even when I'm not training, so maybe I'm not getting enough calories.
I got a lot of time to train, and wanted to see what I could do for a half. Maybe ~1:15? 1:12?
So far I'm 3 weeks into training, and have 22 weeks left till the half. I've run 30, 40, 50 miles these last 3 weeks. The goal is to get up to 70 for a few weeks in the middle and then drop it back down.
Does anyone have advice for mileage given my history? And what type of quality should I be doing? What distance long runs?
