Hey guys! So I am a mid-level runner trying to step up my game am my current pair of shoes are dead and they have been killing my legs (I have posterior shin splints on inside of each shin in each leg). The pain kicks up during/after I run and then goes away after an hour or two. It's really inhibiting my training, and I need a new shoe. Please help.
Here are some general points:
-I'm a 16-year-old male high school track/cross country runner.
-weigh 150lbs, plan to drop to 144lbs. 6'0" tall.
-have about an 8 month training base.
-5k time: 18:10 (as of end of XC season in December), 800m time: 2:10(last week) and I want to get to about 2:06 in the 800m within another month.
-My coach has us running 30-35miles right now but plans to have us doing 50+miles by September.
-My last shoe was the Brooks PureFlow (had nothing but problems in these) and before that the New Balance 880v3's (liked these shoes a lot but my coach didn't for some reason).
-I have moderate over pronation
-middle-height arches in my feet
-need a shoe that can do distance work and things like progression and tempo runs (so it needs to be able to handle 65 minute runs in addition to some minor speed work)
-my shoe needs to be something that encourages midfoot striking.
Which of the three fits my needs?
