I think she has the form to win but just doesn't have the marathon figured out well enough. Hoping to be proved wrong!

I think Shalane has run just about all of her marathons up to her fitness level.

Agree. Isn't 14:45 inline with a 2:25:xx?
Yet another SKINNY runner. Yawn.

That's not her best race. The 30:22 and 47:00 equate to about 2:22:10. Some track runners don't run as fast in the marathon, based on times from shorter distances. This is not unexpected. My guess is nope, she's not going to quite reach that level but her participation will add some excitement and intruigue. 3d-5th, maybe a PR but not sub 2:22.

You are correct in that it is not unexpected. Problem is, too many people DO expect it.
I think what her past marathons have shown is that Shalane is better at attaining a higher level of fitness for the 10K than the marathon. Whether it is training or just what she is physically suited for, I don't know, time will tell.
I absolutely believe that Shalane puts all of her fitness into her races though. She in not one to hold back.

No she absolutely hasn't. A 10k bronze medalist and 30:xx mid runner should not be finishing 3rd or worse and 10 minutes off the world record, unless the marathon really isn't her thing at all.
