Missed 20 days of high school this year. Is this an excuse for a B+ in a class?

I think I've missed 1-2 days of school freshman- senior year due to illness. so yes, it is a lot.

Dude it sounds like you go to a sheot school anyways. Assuming you missed 20 days of school in all the other classes as well and it appears that you are getting As in those classes it seems like grading at your school is a joke. But, if you try that crap at a reasonably competitive college and you'll be sacking groceries after the first semester.

High school is pretty much the easiest thing in the world. If you can't make it through that, you're going to have a tough go of it in the real world.

That's a lot of school to miss. I worked at a school that had an attendance requirement attached to class credit. Too many absences and you lose credit.

Missing 20 days of school unless you're hospitalized or have some serious chronic illness diagnosed by a doctor is unacceptable, yes. You would get fired from almost any job for just calling in sick or skipping 20 days a year.

There's really no way for me to say that my school is difficult without sounding arrogant, but for reference I have a 2300+ SAT (even though I acknowledge the test is biased as hell and dumb kids could get a similar score). I didn't miss these days in a row, they were pretty spread out as I was forcing myself to go into school while sick a lot. If I want to I can work for 6+ hours straight on homework without breaks, though you're right I would get roasted at a competitive college as long as the tests aren't as much of a joke as SAT, ACT, SAT subject tests, AP tests, etc

Dude I understand, I go to incredibly competitive big school as well. None of these guys understand that some high schools are hard these days and it is harder to get into college than when they were applyig. But one b+ shouldn't be a big deal (even if you are applying to ivys) , as Lon as all your other grades are good and you have a 2400 on your sat and solid extracurriculars. I've missed several days this year as a result of a lack of sleep, junior year sucks

Eventually, you have to stop making excuses and take responsibilities for you actions. Don’t skip class and expect to get an A. Grow up.

I would say it's arrogant to assume that a "dumb kid" could get a 2300+ on the SAT, good for you on your score but if you only got one B+ after missing 20 days then your classes can't be that hard at all.

I teach high school and if you miss 20+ days in my class there is no way you can make up the amount of work that you would have to to get over a C. You should be happy that you have a B+

No excuse. I missed about 50 days in my last year of high school graded with straight A's and got an academic scholarship to a top university.
