I am looking to get into a track race over spring break, and my only option is to enter unattached into a college meet. Problem is I am currently a member of my high school track team and would like to continue competing for my team. Can I enter a college race without losing eligibility? Thanks.
Depends on what state your school is in. Different states have different rules about it.
Can a high school kid run unattached at a Professional meet like Prefontaine Classic i.e. Webb?
From my experience most of the problems with high school kids in college meets are NCAA related rather than with high school associations. You need to get sanctioning for any meet you run in as a high school athlete during your official season - your AD should be able to get that done.
However, most high school associations restrict competition that is not part of your school's official schedule. So if you don't go through your AD and don't get the sanctioning, you could find yourself ineligible for your state tournament (districts, regionals, et.)

To answer the OP's question directly: You will not lose NCAA eligibility if you compete unattached and do not accept any prize money over a certain dollar amount other than educational scholarships within 6 months of your first NCAA season.
Your high school's state athletics association might rule you ineligible for high school competition that year, however, but this will have no affect on your NCAA eligibility.

In CA high school runners cannot run unattached when there is a HS division. So Stanford Invitational, no you cannot. Peyton Jordon, yes.
PJ should really add HS kids to this meet. Throw in a 3k or mile. Maybe a 4x8 and add a couple thousand to the attendance. You'll add people to the stands, it's pathetic right now.

Hating on an 18 year old. What is wrong with "this HS runner" many top HS runners have competed at PJ in the past and this year.
