Will UO build a brand new Hayward Field at the cemetary, expand over the tennis courts, or use Autzen Stadium. What is envisioned exactly for the Worlds bid?

New track with Pre's Rock right in the middle. Nike will fund it 100%.
"It [Hayward Field] hosts 10,500 in its current configuration but can be expanded to 21,000."
Is 21k a large enough stadium for WC?
Eminent

I thought the WC championship standard was 80,000 seats which can only be accommodated at Autzen. They must be counting on luring IAAF to the American audience with this bite-size stadium to help develop American tastes for T+F.
What they really should do is blow out the Bowerman Building and Powell Plaza and build new seats. Those aren't strong contributors to Hayward Field.
The area won't fill a stadium and can't accommodate thousands of athletes and spectators so no.
Seattle would be a much better place to have Worlds.
They will need to reserve the entire west side stands for IAAF VIPs, press writer workstations, IAAF dignitaries. There will be 3,000 thousand credentialled writers, TV, and magazine producers, cameramen, and technicians. They will have to knock out the seats behind the finish line, for 50 rows up, and 24 (track) lanes wide for TV and magazine cameras. The West stands and entire perimeter needs to be widened at least 10 meters for TV and magazine cameras. The entire Mac Court would be used by the international press. The Matthew Knight Center would be to wind and dine the IAAF VIPs numbering in the several thousands. Which begs the question. Are there 5,000 Five-Start hotel rooms for the IAAF press and IAAF VIPs in Eugene/Springfield?
All they have to do is tear up 15th avenue and Agate street and they could fit in 40,000 seats easy. IAAF would go for that considering it is a Storied track.
To handle the traffic they could add about 4 or 5 lanes to Franklin Boulevard.
Move the Fire Station.
Tear out Agate St.
Tear out the cemetary.
Tear out Mac Court.
Add a 5,000 man barracks for US Navy SEALS, FBI, Secret Services, US Army Delta Special Forces, Oregon State SWAT commandos, NSA surveillance gearheads, plus support workers.
Build 5 star hotel rooms for 5000 IAAF big weenies, 10,000 athletes and 20,000 tag alongs and credit-takers.
Add two 2 mile long run ways for jumbo jets at Eugene Airport.
Add public bus lines to the airport from downtown.
Import 10,000 female and male prostitutes to provide "customary services".
Anything else?
Oh, hell, what about 50,000 fans and 5,000 news correspondents.
If Lanana were to title the bid as "The Steve Prefontaine 2019 Eugene IAAF World Championships proposal" then the IAAF will surely approve it. That I guarantee.
