Has anyone tried racing on LSD or shrooms? Contrary to the assumption of the general population I think it would enhance performance because of the disconnect between mind and body.
Any anecdotal evidence of this?

Never tried it. I think the motivational issues would be a pretty steep barrier. Plus, what would you do after your race?
If you already had a plan of running a race and then took the psychedelic beforehand I don't think motivation would be a problem.
After your race you could do whatever you wanted.
If someone planned to take a psychedelic before a race to see what it would do to performance they could also easily plan what they would do after the race. (They would probably have people that were aware of their experiment and would hang out after the race or something)
Have you ever done psychedelics?
Timing would be very important. I think it would certainly be possible to race just a little after doping. If you were peaking, though, I just don't see it happening. "Hang out after the race" sounds like you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
I would not want to enter the race mentality and have a serious kind altering drug in my system.
Ive tripped and gone trail running in shrooms. But think about it from this light: what if you had a bad race? Youd be going to hell amd bank mentally. And sometimes that kind of damage is irreparable.
Yes I have done psychedelics multiple times. I agree if you were in mid-peak you would be too tripped out by all the other people around that you would probably "force" yourself into a bad trip.
By hanging out after the race I mean spending time with people that you trust and are completely aware you are tripping and that are willing to do what you want to do. Basically sober sitters that would understand and influence a good trip.
If you had a bad race it could cause a bad trip but if you went into the race treating it as an experiment than it's possible that you would feel the same regardless of the outcome of the race
I think a trail race might be good. Keep it relatively short, don't push it terribly hard, and it might be a good experience.
What about going to the Westminster dog show on acid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi_-PddFCKU
I've done psychedelics quite a few times and assuming you are buying quality product I would stay away from racing on acid, too many variables and too many bad things that could happen.
I've ran on shrooms before, and ran high (weed) many times. Running on marijuana actually feels really good for medium length runs but from my experience hurts your leg speed so don't try to crank out any 800 repeats or blast a 5 mile tempo stoned. I might try a 10k stoned if I were you. Running on shrooms was cool but I was even slower.
Thank you so much for this thread. Have plenty of experience with different plant medicine and have wondered about this for a long time. Would be very interesting. One thing is if you fast that day and just take the psychedelic you would be a lot lighter then normal. I've had immense energy to dance on san pedro cactus (mescaline) and magic mushrooms but haven't done much running. I've heard stories of endurance using psychedelics such as peyote. When you used correctly it can be superfood for the body and as such could be a great performance enhancer. So while it may not make you faster, the fact that it can help put you in the zone and the fact that if you fast that day you'll be lighter ( i mean due to these things you mean run a lot faster race). stay well

I don't think fasting would have any significant affect on racing; however, I do think that psychedelics get you in the zone to race fast.
I've had experiences with psychedelics where it feels that I am hyperfocused and have a disconnect with my body.
For example I was swimming in a very cold lake with my friend who was sober. When we got out of the lake both of us had goosebumps and were shivering. He kept stating how cold he was. I, on the other hand, could not feel the cold even though my body was reacting to it.
I think it would be similar in a race. Even though I would be breathing just as hard as I normally would I think it's possible that I wouldn't feel the pain and would be able to focus on the race.
Any thoughts?
Honestly the whole idea is interesting in a theoretical way, but I could think of so many more enjoyable ways to spend a trip that I would not have any interest in participating.
I hear ya, but one has to wonder if it could help an elite athlete that was close to the world record, break the world record
Yes for sure I've able to do things while on magic mushrooms that I haven't been able to do otherwise. Such as dance a lot and then sit in lotus position a really long time and become really relaxed and focused (only time I ever sat in the position that long without pain). It does seem to have an effect on loosening up the muscles. Mescaline (preferred in take is from a plant such as san pedro cactus) for example is known for bringing heat into the body.
how do you guys get access to this stuff?
In the south grain fed cows have shrooms that pop up and bruise purple.
I would run 5 miles then "gag" down some shrooms then run back. My outlook on the world changed and I saw through the veil of humanity and smiled.
Its obvious the people posting on this thread have NEVER done psychedelics. OP, this what really happens: You feel like you're soaring, when in fact you're writhing on the ground drooling with dilated eyes muttering about conscious molecules, and how heavy the colour of your loneliness tastes.
The only pr you'll set is the trip to the E.R.
i run during every experience

With a lot of experience and learning to handle the experience one can becomes focused to be able to deal with it. Plus there would be a big difference between a large dose and a small dose.
Yeah, if you got someone to tie up your shoes for you, you
might make it through a mile before you wandered off course.
