17, male, junior in HS. I ran a 2:04 high to 2:05 low in my 4x800 leg (both coaches got different times on stopwatches) in good conditions. But I gassed out that night on 4x400, running 57 low (Probably could've got 55 high) at Monday's meet. I also ran 4:52 mid 1600m Friday (20 mph wind on home stretch) to show my current 1600 speed also. We are running roughly 20-25 mpw depending on how many meets a week we have, on a distance running program my school ordered for our team. My problem is for the 1600m is that I went out in 1:09, 1:12, 1:18, 1:13 and I want to know what splits I should aim for to break 4:45, (hoping to break 4:40 by May 15th if the Iowa weather ever gets better) and how to get faster for that 3rd lap in the 1600. For my 800m, I just went out as hard as I could I guess, haha. I am aiming to get 2:03 in the open 800 if that is realistic enough to be a personal goal. Any comments or tips on how I can better my 800/1600 times would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, LetsRun.
