On 60 minutes segment on Flanagan and Boston, she says without questions he'd prefer a Boston Marathon win to an Olympic Medal.
To me that's crazy.... even Bronze in a low-focus event like Steeple. Give me that Olympic medal?
Anyone take Boston?

I don't know. But Shalane is from Massachusetts so you have to factor that in.
I'd take Boston unless that Olympic Medal is gold.
"He'd" prefer?
She already has an Olympic medal
Depends on the Olympic medal, doesn't it? There have obviously been far fewer Boston Marathon winners than Olympic medalists in history, so that would make a Boston win more special. But if we're only talking Olympic marathon medals I'd have to go with that one, even if it's a bronze.
BOSTON!
If it's a medal in curling, it's a no brainer to take that. Otherwise I'll choose Boston.

This. But also depends on the event.
If it's between Boston and an Olympic Gold in race walking? I'm taking Boston...
She grew up in Boston, she is a girl that knows how to build her brand. She thought about this and what the reaction would be.
OK, steeple really is awful, but in the end, a gold medal is a gold medal...

Good Point. I'd like to amend my previous comment.
I don't know. Al Sal, Bill Rodgers, and Greg Meyer all have Boston wins. Bet they would like an Olympic medal.
But the real question to the average American runner, what is a bigger deal a BQ or an Olympic medal in a shorter distance they'd take the BQ.
Okay that's an exageration but you'd think that running Boston is the pinnacle of sport the way some carry on.
A BQ?! The threads about a Boston WIN vs an Oly medal. Try to keep up.
My ranking:
1. Olympic Gold
2. Boston Win
3. Any other Olympic medal
Strictly from a future earnings perspective, I've got to believe that a Boston win by a native born American would be worth more in terms of future appearance fees, endorsements, and such than a bronze medal in the Olympics. Perhaps more than an Olympic medal of any color for the first American to win Boston in decades.
from ma too, boston win is way cooler!

Facetious try to keep up.
Aren't major marathons more competitive than the olympics? Lot easier to win when there are only 3 kenyans. I'd take the boston win, unless that's a gold medal in something like the 100m or Basketball
