I've come to the realization that I am completely unathletic

High School Running Distance

I was chilling with my friends last night and playing knockout I legitimatley couldn't shoot a basketball better than the worst girl. I have no idea how to throw a football, have a terrible vertical, and can't catch for my life. I can probably do 40 pushups in a row, or 10 pullups in a row, but only because i am so skinny. The only thing i can do is run and sort've bike and swim. How long will this haunt me? Do guys continue to fool around in sports in college (i'm a jnr high school) for fun? My footspeed also sucks (28 200 balls to the wall) so I really have very little to be proud of. Should I practice sports alone until i don't suck (I did that with a frisby freshman year to some success), or just accept myself as a non-athlete that can run a 17:00 5k? I'm kind've pissed at my dad for never keeping balls in the house or signing me up for sports other than gradeschool xc/track, or playing sports with me as a kid

run consistent high mileage for the next couple years following a proven training plan and taking measures/rest periods to avoid injury

eventually you will become a very good 10k/marathon guy

Contrary to what the idiotic libtards on here will tell you, athletic ability has nothing to do with environment. It is genetic. If you had athletic inclination, you would have used oranges as soccer balls a child. If you are naturally unathletic, you just have to go with nature and figure something else out. Computers? Culinary arts? Directing porn? Find something you are good at and do that. Don't make running into anything more than a marginal hobby because 17:00 is just fair—you will never be fast if you are over 16 and still running that time. Again, the libshits on here will tell you that you can be fast if only you commit to pissing your life away running 100 mile weeks for 10 years...that's why they're called libshits, because everything they believe is delusional to the degree that it borders on retarded. Genetics, not mileage, determines how fast you will be.

That sounds a lot like me. I can't run under 28 for the 200. I can't lift well. And my vertical barely comes off the ground. Just realize athletics don't matter to much in the long run. Just be proud of yourself as a runner. As long as you look good, you can still get women.

Try to become a better runner by becoming more athletic. Strength train and do form drills, lots of them until you master them. Use running as your introduction to lifetime fitness. You can do cross training as well. Enjoy becoming more proficient..It will serve you well now and in the future.
