Not sure if you follow running but a lot has changed in the last seven years in the marathon.
True. Hall finished 43 seconds behind the winner in 2007. Today, Farah finished 3:52 behind the winner. That's nearly a mile back. A lot has changed.

Crazy to think that his 2:06:17 was 17th fastest all time when he ran it. Now it is roughly 140th fastest.

Which was the point I was attempting to make. There are kids (18-21) running sub 2:06 now. It's just nuts. Wanjiru showed the younger guys that they could bring the fire that they have to the marathon and make it pay off and he did and others have followed. It's just a different race now. Wanjiru made the marathon a race from the gun and now when you have large fields assembled you're going to have really fast guys going for broke and blowing up but course records and world records keep going down. It's much more exciting that some dumb tactical 5/10k on the track that farah controls and wins in 13:10. All the dudes with any balls are going to the marathon.

Don't forget when Hall ran 2:06:17 the 3rd mile was 4:23, similar to what everyone was freaking out about today.
then that tells me Hall has mismanaged his career badly
