At the London marathon today, the women finish nearly 5 minutes off Paula's WR. Her record is either a true masterpiece or up there as one of the biggest drug aided jokes out there.

It's both.
So you're thinking that a woman who ran a time which remains nearly 3 mins faster than any other woman has managed to run and ran it 11 years ago might be just a tad suspicious despite the fact that said woman spent entirely too much time pointing fingers at everyone else?
Good thinking.
You realize that being a world record means it's faster than any other woman has ever run for that distance...don't you?

Thanks for the bulletin. It's nearly 3 minutes faster than any woman has run. Imagine the reaction if some male went out there today and had run 2:01.
Stop protecting Paula.
Considering Africans can run faster than white folk, to have been able to run that much faster than the drug assisted African runners, you are implying that Paula must have found, on her very own, a drug, so unique and so powerful that nobody else, with all the resources the Africans and Chinese have at their disposal- have ever been able to duplicate?
Stop casting aspersions on something you know absolutely nothing about!!
I don't know if Radcliffe was doping and neither do you.
I do know that she trained harder than any other woman has (I have seen her train) before, and on her day was a very tough runner, but without much real leg-speed. It is, in part, because of this obssessed training that she is the physical wreck that she is today. If you had seen some of the workouts that she accomplished, mainly solo, you would understand better. The marathon is still a big psychological battle, often of attrition - witness the men's race today. Few people can cope, and she certainly had her problems in the Olympic marathons, but for those few years when she was rolling and healthy, she was phenomenal - and made for the marathon. It was obvious that her time at the top would be short - you can only thrash yourself like that for so long.
WTF does seeing her train have to do with anything? Drugs enable one to train very, very hard, day in and day out.
WR is a freaking joke and the truth will come out.

Stop protecting her from what? The unproven accusations of some anonymous poster named "Steve on a cell in Brooklyn"?

Unless you wish to believe that one person happens to be that much faster than everyone else who's given it a shot.....what do you think?

I don't know
What makes you believe the first part and you're right about the second part.

Paula was a one-off, the likes of, we in Britain, will never see again.
She still has the three fastest ever women’s marathon times to her credit, averaging around 2:16:40ish, compared to the next fastest female running a 2:18:20.
AND SHE STILL HAS ZERO OLYMPIC MEDALS IN THE MARATHON.
The epitome of a choker, which is quite anti-British, other than Seb Coe's chokes over 800m.
Her performances are bigger outliers than Wang Junxia. That is FACT.
Because that's what champions do.
1. London is a slow course
2. Male wabbits

As far as the marathon is concerned, an Olympic gold medal hardly indicates supremacy at that specific event.
This list of Olympic winners is hardly a who’s-who of marathon running.
Where were all the many 2 hours 3, 2 hours 4, 2 hours 5 marathon runners at the last Olympics when Kiprotich who has a PB of 2.7 won?
Running for money in the big-city events one imagines.
Who remembers Tomeacu and Noguchi these days?
Paula wanted to win because wining a gold medal is a big deal in Britain, but one can’t guarantee being fully fit for the marathon on a given day, that’s why the Olympics throws up so many surprises.
Paula did win the world championships marathon at Helsinki in what is still a record time and three world half marathon championships.
And also the world’s junior and senior cross-country titles.
Quite a choker, eh?
And one assumes one has to also be pretty competitive to win so many big city races where the opposition is often stronger than the line-up at the Olympics.
Only the Olympics has the best testing.
She choked. She admitted it in interviews and her book. The pressure to perform was too much.
I, for one, value an Olympic Gold above all other records. That's why for me, Joan Benoit is ahead of Paula Radcliffe and Takahashi and Noguchi are also ahead.
I've generally held to the belief that Paula was probably clean, although with a touch of Salazar-style "pursue every technically legal avenue possible". However, I can see why people would think she must have been dirty.
But either way, her performance was/is still stunning. Many men and women elite marathon runners HAVE used EPO - I think that would be hard to dispute - but Radcliffe still ran minutes faster than any other woman. Loads of guys have run within a couple of minutes of the men's record, but the same does not hold for the women's record. So I don't think it can be as simple as dismissing her record as due entirely to drugs, because even if she was using drugs, it doesn't explain why she was able to run so much faster than other elite women marathoners who were also using drugs.

Good for you. I value a World Record above all else.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
