I'm going to be a high school senior next year, with aspirations to run DIII. My PRs are fine but nothing special, ~4:40 and ~10:00. Typically I run about 40 miles a week, with a day off pretty much every week.
Last summer, I built up the mileage too quickly, and ended up sidelined with a stress reaction in my tibia that kept me out of the cross country season. It didn't appear to be related to the mileage that I was doing--I was injured on less than 40 miles a week, while normally I can handle up to 50 just fine--but I would love to remain healthy this summer.
It's always been a desire of mine to double and run 60+ miles a week the summer before my senior year. Because of my injury history now, however, I'm unsure as to whether I should go for 20 more mpw than I've ever maintained or do a more conservative summer of maintaining 50 mpw.
So letsrun, what should I do?
