my guess is it won't work.
he's retiring his old character role, apparently.
i suspect it's going to be a very strange show

so I guess #CancelColbert worked
I hope his old show goes to Estaban Colberto
Love him and surprised the liberal media would give the spot to someone with conservative stripes. I hope he does not bow to pressure and continues to stick it to liberals.

He's been a "persona" for so long, it'll be interesting to see how he does in a not purely satirical setting. Much bigger fan of his than Jon Stewart, with his overly inflated ego.

You do know that Colbert is a liberal pretending to be a conservative to make fun of the conservative view.
Couldn't be any worse than Letterman.

Absolutely, but he'll actually hit both sides every once in a while, and does so intelligently. Much better than Stewart, who became unwatchable many years ago.
Definitely will watch over Jimmy Fallon.
This WILL be fun!
Most Re-tards don't even realize TCR is a parody.
Like Letterman and Stewart, Colbert is completely unwatchable.

Oh satire...
I haven't watched one of those 10/11PM TV shows since my parents made me watch, 20 years ago.
If you find Colbert and Stewart unwatchable, you must only view this type of entertainment through the filter of a very bitter conservative, because they are both creative and funny. I don't care who these types of comedians are making fun of, but that's just me.
I honestly think Bryan Cranston would have made an incredible host, despite not being a comedian or a host or whatever.
Well, now that Rush Limbaugh has weighed in, I see why some of the posters above are so troubled by this move. It's war!
"CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America," Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday. "No longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values [and] conservatives. Now, it's just wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and a redefinition of what is comedy."
