i just randomly pick a HOKA show & looked at the weight: 9oz, not much heavier than my normal training shoe (8.1oz Adios).
don't understand why you would design a shoe to LOOK heavy/like it has a ridiculous amount of unneeded cushioning...it's like try to sell a ridiculously oversized glove (that functions just as well as a normal glove) to a baseball player. may not affect performance, but will lead to opinions being formed before ever trying it out.
They were designed for the niche market of ultra marathoners and other recreational runners who were looking for something specific. Now they are trying to branch out a bit and show track and normal road racers can wear them too.
