How do you think Mike Dimambro will do by the end of the season? Will he get into NCAA for the decath?
I'm very excited to watch the Sophomore Mike DiMambro from Rhode Island. He is clearly a very gifted athlete with a great support crew at RI. Have Baltzell around to teach him and bring him along is an under-valued part of growing in the Dec. Especially for a Sophomore in the event. He now has one full year of experience under his belt, which is huge in the multi-events. The staff at Rhode Island has shown dedication to improving their team's strength and throws (an area that Mike lacks a little) by upgrading their weight room. This will be a big year for him.
Although I think the A10 has potential to send 5+ athletes to NCAA Nationals this year, I don't think this is the year for Mike to make that trip. He should be looking to break the top 10 at the IC4A meet at Princeton where he could finish the event as one of the top returning for the 2015 season as I think many of the top 10 will be graduating seniors. Keep working hard Mike, prove me wrong and make it to the East regionals and then Nationals!
Congrats on starting up a conference t&f/XC blog.
So is this blog A10 only? Unless you really read through all of the posts, it isn't identified really as such. Perhaps somewhere in the header you can state that it is for the A10 conference.
Will you be posting anything come championships time, like live updates, predictions, or event previews? If you do, you will definitely increase your viewership.
Good luck with this. I'll be sure to pass the website around for the A10 alumni I know of.
DiMambro is actually a Junior, but eligibility wise only a Sophomore. He red shirted this indoor season as well as last outdoor.
It will be exciting to see how he does the rest of the year.
I started the blog hoping to reach more than just the Atlantic 10, but now I'm realizing that I just don't have that much time. I have settled on keeping it to the A10 but haven't changed the title or anything. Good call though, I will have to chance the header or something to identify it as unique to our conference.
I love the idea of predictions and event previews, I will definitely try to do that. Not sure about live updates. I will be there racing the 10k so I might be busy at times but free to post pictures or interviews before or after my race.
Please keep the critiques and suggestions coming!
Thank you for the correction on Mike!

I help out on another conference's track website that is similar to this, so I know of the time commitment it takes to follow and update on a regular basis. You have a good start.
Another question: when you share the athletes of the week, are those determined by you or by the conference officials? If by the officials, perhaps you can include a link to the announcement or reference who made the determination.
Recommendation: I don't know how many links you're allowed to set up on your page, but perhaps you could add in a group of links that go to each team's official website.
In the A-10. the conference officials make the call. on those athletes NOMINATED each week. If your SID doesn't put in your name, you are not considered.
I know this because I inquired why a frosh running 4:11 in the indoor mile wasn't given the weekly award.
Was NOT nominated was their response, tho clearly the best mark that week
FYI
Good to know about the conference PotW selection process. Which freshman are you referring to and what race?

That is really good to know. Thanks for sharing. It's too bad that athlete did not get that recognition back in 2013. Hopefully the SID is following the sport and cares about their TF/XC teams.
