Just ran a 45:77 400m in Sasolburg - South-Africa. Will post a link to results as soon as there is one.

Wow!
did he get a haircut or something?
So good to see Amos back at it if this is true.Last year there was talk of him being in band of some sort, DJing, etc.Remember, this is the guy who ran 1:41.73 in the Olympics at age 18. Everyone was so mesmerized by Rudisha they forgot there was a guy pretty close to him who had just started running.Well everyone but us:http://www.letsrun.com/2012/rudisha-worldrecord-0809.php
Found this meet preview. Mentions that "two athletes from Botswana and two from Egypt are to face each other in the 400m." Doesn't bother to mention Amos by name.

Sasolburg is at an altitude of 1500m, so its worth more like 46.0 for sea level.
Still great for a 400m runner at this stage of the season, let alone an 800m runner.
He won't run sub-1:42 again though.
History has proven that to run sub-1:42 more than once, you have to be at least 6 feet tall.

amazing analogy, you can also assume that to go under 1:42 twice you must be kenyan, and you must be coached by Colm O'Connell in their early years, or that they must have 6 letters in their middle name.
I mean cmon history has proven it.
Oh, it is true. 45.77 2nd place. Not far from his pb.

This has obviously been responsible for his huge improvement.
http://web.up.ac.za/default.asp?ipkCategoryID=4881&subid=4881&ipklookid=14Pity the Kenyans haven't got a similar place or allowed access to this centre.
They'd probably churn out close to 1/2 dozen 1'42 or better guys/year if they had such facilities

You are wrong!
Nijel is training in Potchefstroom at the North West University under Jean Verster with Andre Olivier and Elroy Gelant. Pretoria doesn't even have a good middle distance program.

Go look under their photos.
I spoke with his coach at NWU, says his training with Andre Olivier (South African 800m guy) who actually won the 1500m last night in a tactical 3:42. He says that Nijel is by far the fittest he's ever been in hus life. Hard to believe when he's already run a 1:41. Hope to see some good times from him this year.

That altitude has no material effect on the 400m.
45:77 would be a good season opener for a world class 400m sprinter, but for an 800m specialist, it's pretty incredible. Not that it matters much, but I think it was determined by SAA that he is most likely 2 years older than his documented age.

Nijel told me himself he feels he is fitter than London 2012. For those doubting my posts, I also train under Jean Verster with Amos, Olivier and Gelant at Potchefstroom.
The official results will be out tomorrow (South-African time). There are results on the web but some events are still missing like the 400m race.
Zuma, can you describe Coach Verster's training methodology a little? What does he concentrate on? Thanks very much
Found these meet results. I see Oliver's win in the 1500m. Seems everything is here except the 400m heat that Amos ran in.
Three heats of the 400m are indicated but results are only shown for two.
Maybe because Amos's 400m heat was set up for non-South African athletes (as mentioned in the meet preview).

Good research. I think that is significant if true.
doesn't he want to be a DJ or something?
If you can't break 4:15 for the mile then you have no shot with the girl. She's just way too fast for you man.
