TX HS Sophomore runs 9:03 and 4:14 double

A SO girl ran 4:58? You don't care about that performance?

I would say that is also very impressive, but HS girls often get slower as they get older. Also, I've seen her running form (albeit a year ago, so it may have improved since then) and it wasn't great.

Even beat Reina who ran 9:05 his sophomore year, but a big difference in the 1600 as Reuben ran 4:13

Wow, that's really impressive! Do you know what point in the season that Reina ran those times?

Also of note, both Dalquist and Blunt ran well under the meet record of 9:08.3 and also destroyed Colby Lowe's best time at the meet (9:10.62).

Those are some pretty solid times. Curious how his season will finish up. See if he runs near Joe Hardy and Kai Wilmot's times. I know Wilmot ran a faster 5k as a frosh.

Are you saying Wilmot ran a faster frosh 5K than Blunt's frosh 5K? Or are you saying Wilmot ran a faster 5K as a frosh than Blunt did as a sophomore? Either way, MileSplit only has Wilmot's 5K PR as 15:00.00 (which was XC, at NXN during Wilmot's senior year). Speaking of Wilmot, it'll be intersting to see if Blunt can beat Wilmot's sophomore 3200 of 8:57.

I think Brad Hauser ran like a 9:00 as a sophomore and Brent was close behind.

Yeah, MileSplit has Brad's overall high school 3200 PR as 9:01.76, from his sophomore season. I can't find any of Brent's sophomore times on MileSplit, but MileSplit lists his HS 3200 PR as 9:12.69, from his senior year. There isn't much on terms of results on the Internet from that period of time though. So it looks like maybe Brad's time is the TX sophomore record? Anyone know of anything faster in TX for a sophomore?

I think Lewis Jones won xc state after the Hausers left for kingwood and vaguely recall him with fast 3200 but maybe not as soph

Carter Blunt, sophomore from TX, this kid is legit. Also ran a 14:57 track 5K last week, in which he also finished 2nd behind Dalquist, who ran 14:48. Ran 9:26 and 4:21 as a frosh. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Craig Lutz or Colby Lowe even ran such a fast 3200 as sophomores.

Great times. Not certain if their is outside coaching here. If so, then enjoy your HS career because college will be a bust.

Seen this movie too many times in the DFW area. It goes from High school "Wow!" to college "who?".

As the season progresses in Texas, along with the heat, do distance runners typically make significant improvements by the state championship or is it just too hot? Does that make any difference if they are running meets at night?

Yeah sub 5 is good but not really all that impressive anymore. [
