I'll be running my first marathon at the end of April, the NJ marathon. I usually run 7 days a week (I know, I know, rest days are good, but I like the routine and I do at least one very easy recovery run after my long runs), but I know that after the marathon I should probably take it easy for a while. So, I have some questions:
1. Should/can I run the day after the marathon?
2. If the above answer is no, how many days should I wait to start running again?
3. If I shouldn't run the day after the marathon, is there anything I should be doing? Walking, etc.? Or is it best just to stay off my feet?
4. My peak mileage for marathon training is around 55-60 mpw. How long after the marathon until I can start working my way up toward higher mileage again? How long until I can start doing speed work and other hard workouts?
Any other tips for recovery in the hours/days/weeks after the marathon?
