Really?
Really?
He also beat everyone else except Ndiku.
In case you didn't notice.
You're right! He also beat everyone else...other than Ndiku
A whole generation of US mid d stars has come and gone just since Lagat became a citizen, and Lagat continues to be challenged only very rarely.
Age 39 and a world champs silver. Lagat is so legit. Another piece of hardware for father time.

Mmmm... A few things may have escaped you.
1 - there has never been a race between only an Lagat, with no other competitors on the track (and there never will)
2 - Rupp and Lagat tend to finish at the front of every race they enter, thus always beating a bunch of other runners.
3 - Rupp and Lagat both represent the US and thus makes this rivalry more relevant(they often run against each other as a result of that)
4 - Rupp has broken many indoor US records. A few of them this winter ( so he is in very good shape)
5 - Lagat will be 40 y.o. this year
6 - only one 40 y.o. man has ever broken the 4 minute mile barrier in the history of humanity.
Therefore, the fact that Lagat is still beating Rupp is quite relevant and pretty incredible.
You will surely agree with me that the title "Did Lagat beat Vernon again?" would not be as relevant or interesting...
But let's be honest, the statement is thrown out as an insult to Rupp. Lagat is the runner he is, despite his age or what country is on his chest he is just that good, consistently one of the top runners at international championships, maybe with more medals than any distance runner? I'm not sure on that but it wouldn't surprise me.
Rupp isn't the only one having a tough time beating him, pretty much every other 3000 or 5000 meter runner in the world finds it difficult in a championship race.

Rupp came in fourth at the indoor WC. That's pretty awesome... It was not meant to be an insult for Rupp.
I really just can't believe that Lagt still owns Rupp...
All I said was Lagat beat everyone except Ndiku. That's all I said.

you forgot #7: lagat has NEVER raced rupp at rupp's best distance..

wrong, unless you mean exactly 40. Coghlan was 41 and Whiteman was 40.
Whiteman is actually more impressive considering he was just a 3:36 guy in his 20's.
I can always believe Lagat will beat Rupp in a race shorter than 5000 and almost any 5000. Rupp is a 10000 meter specialist who is vey good, but not great at shorter distances. What's surprising is that there are no other Americans and few internationals who a beat Lagat or Rupp. It would be great to see Torrence, Leer, Jäger, Bumbalough, Fernandez, Hiill, etc. take this on.

The 1500/3k are Rupp's best distances right now. And Lagat just beat him twice.

We've settled this time and time again.
http://www.iaaf.org/news/news/analysis-of-bernard-lagat-b-sample-returns-nehttp://trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/display-article?arId=114There is no shame losing to a 39 year old at a young man's distance.

And it is all so believable. But, that post race workout Rupp ran, man, that just proves he's a doper. And, race has nothing to do with this. If a black foreign import guy ran a good workout, we'd all totally think he was a doper too, and all those white has beens would call him out for it. Totally.
On what basis would you say that? He has run second and 4th in the 10000 in the OG and WC.. His 10000 pr is way better than his 5000 and 1500 prquote]idoo wrote:

try 3:32
http://www.thepowerof10.info/athletes/profile.aspx?athleteid=1748you forgot #8. Rupp has never, ever, beaten any 5 hour marathoner either.
