he probably had ~ 51.0 speed
his 1500 ability soon after joining sal was probably
51.00 / 26'40 ->3'31.3
after a solid year or 2 with sal, his speed as evidenced by his 50.8 finish in a 5k, was in region of 49-high, call it 49.75 & people keep saying his 10k was no better

yeah, calculator says gym work was waste of time to bring 3'28 speed to a tactical slow 5 or 10k...
