There is no statement she could have made that would make most people happy. Furthermore, not making a statement would have made another large contingent unhappy. Knowing this, I hope she simply decided to make the statement above because it's simply what's in her heart and what she felt she wanted to say.
Unhappy people choose to be that way.
I have to be honest and say I never heard of her before all of this.
After seeing two different race videos she pushed through other runners to get a better position and clipping Hasay while running in single file in this race, she has a long term problem that needs to be dealt with because the sympathy will quickly go away if this continues to happen at the level she is running at.
Hopefully AlSal and the USATF will be fully held accountable for their despicable actions, at least over the long term (in the short term, Nike $$$ calls the shots)

Where do you think track would be without nike's $$ and support. It'd be in 10x worse shape and probably barely hanging on.
People seem to forget that.
You people are a rare form of idiot. She responds with high praise of Jordan Hasay and Max Siegel (spelling?). These two people were the only classy part of this process. She does not have to apologize for anything, because she didn't even say or do anything besides race a 3k (and win). She has nothing to apologize for. Nothing. You people would rather have some pointless and fake apology for some reason.
This board makes less and less sense. Jealousy is ugly.
fixed that for you. your welcome (letsrunism intended)

I liked the quote where she says she is just way faster than Jordan and that is why they collided and of course SALAZAR dropping f- bombs and threats all over the place. Yep, classy, indeed.

She was only praising Hasay because she gave up her spot, and you both forgot Salazar, who pushed for removal of the protest. She would not be going to worlds if it weren't for Salazar.
High praise when she gets her way. How is this classy? Her DQ was not completely necessary but not completely uncalled for either. Corruption and conspiracy theories aside.

Um no, grunewald was f-bombing threats all over the place.
Got nothing against her either way but she broke the rules.
That was a very good statement - especially letting some of the pinheads on here know that this had nothing to do with the athletes, but only the processes.
She broke every rule in the book and is representing the USA in the Worlds? What a shame to her and to America.
This entire episode proves how out-of-control Nike is when it comes to our sport. It's time we pull back the blinders and really examine Nike's influence. They have become exactly what they swore they would never become 40 years ago.
No one in the crowd was booing Grunewald after the race. Although if the race had been held in Beaverton, I'm sure she would have needed a police escort to leave the arena. It's a sad commentary on what we have become.
I'm thankful for the power of the internet and the voices of so many people who stood up to see this wrong corrected. Hopefully, Salazar will take some time to rehabilitate his image and Nike will re-examine the partisanship that resulted in things becoming so nasty for Jordan and Gabe.
Good statement, saw the video too and thought it was sincere and appropriate. Happy to see a great runner and person like her representing our country.
That's sport. You throw high and inside in Yankee stadium, youre going to get it from the stands.

No she didn't, stop spamming this forum with these idiotic comments.

Gabe broke no rules, regarding track and field. She did not impede anyone. Her last lap was a bit clumsy, but was due to her running so much faster than Hasay and Rowbury. Hasay was also clumsy and bobbing around, due to being so exhausted. All contact was incidental and had no bearing on the outcome of the race.
The only "rule" she perhaps broke was beating Alberto's 2 prize runners....Alberto doesn't like that!
Lastly, I don't think that America was shamed. A courageous, talented young woman (rightfully)is representing us!
she owes Rojo a beer
I'd feel better if she even casually mentioned the contact and suggested she'd work harder to prevent these situations in the future. Sure, the process sucks, but the process didn't even need to be started if she'd kept clear of Hasay. She doesn't seem to think she did anything wrong, and that this was all about someone else. Boo.
