Decided to up my mileage from xc season where I might have averaged 55 miles and have been slowly upping it since then. My goal was to hold 75 for as long through season as I can.
After my break, my mileage has gone
12/28-45
1/4-54
1/11-60
1/18-67
1/25-70
2/2-60
2/8-72
2/16-75
2/22-75
My regular runs feel fine for the most part (a couple days where I just felt sluggish and trashed). However, in my workouts I've started to not be able to hit my splits. My legs just don't feel like they can go much faster than what they are doing and that I'm carrying an extra fifteen pounds with every step.
Is this a pretty normal feeling after upping my mileage? Should I back off mileage for a week or stay consistent and run through the feeling? If you need any extra info just let me know. I don't have a coach I can talk to about this.
